Lighting your Candle
Wick trimming
Keeping your wick trimmed is essential to extending the life of your candle. Before each burn, trim the wick to 1/4" above the wax. This will allow your wick to slowly warm the wax and prevent tunnelling, keeping the surface nice and smooth, and maximizing burn time. Having a long wick will cause a larger flame to occur, this results in a hot flame which will burn and melt the wax faster which can cause a tunnelling effect, shortening the lifespan. A long wick can also cause a sooty or ashy burn and can degrade the scent.
Burn Time
While there is no maximum burn time, there is a minimum. Wax has a distinct way of retaining its previous shape. We recommend at a minimum allowing your candle to burn until the melted wax has reached the edges of the container. This will extend the life of your candle and reduce the chance of tunnelling.
But wait, my candle has started to tunnel, what do I do? At this point, the candle is no longer going to be able to melt evenly, we recommend carefully scraping off the surrounding high areas such that wax is even with the wick. Then, on the next burn allow the candle to fully melt.
